Dreams seem to be trapped by time…

Endlessly repeating essentially the same day… the unvaried routine again and again, purposeless… meaningless… barren and lifeless.

We are hanged upside down, reluctantly, like the bare tree hanged in the settings of the Void. It’s a commandment of life.

An obscure uncertainty is triggering the journey of human being, drowning in a muck heap day by day.

Death makes a noise like feathers.

About the Playwright

Born on April 1906, in Foxrock, in County Dublin, Ireland, Samuel Beckett is one of the key figures of ‘The Theatre of the Absurd’ and is considered as one of the last modernist writers. As a youth, Beckett severe bouts of depression that kept him bedridden; he reflected “I had little talent for happiness”, an observation that would later provide an undercurrent in much of his writings. After World War II, Beckett produced many of his best-known works, like his famous ‘trilogy’ of novels: Malloy, Malone Dies, The Unnamable; successful full length play: Endgame, Krapp’s last tape, Happy Days, Play, Waiting for Godot and many more. ‘Waiting for Godot’ was originally written in French (En attendant Godot), later, translated into English by Beckett.  The original French version of the play was performed for the first time in Paris at the ‘Thèâtre de Babylone’ in 1953, directed by an inexperienced theatre director Beckett. The first performance in English was directed by Peter Hall at the ‘Arts Theatre in London’ in 1955. Since then ‘Waiting for Godot’ is became a history of Absurd theatre. Beckett was awarded the “1969 Nobel Prize in Literature” for his writing.
